In the clipping/clamping method, titanium clips are applied on the nerve causing the cessation of function of that particular segment. In the cutting method, the nerve is cut with electric cautery or with harmonic scalpel which is an ultrasonic device. Both methods will result in compensatory sweating, but the clipping method gives the possibility of reversal should the compensatory sweating be too severe.
