How Much Does The Surgery Cost?

Trying to answer this specific question of cost is extremely complicated. Our staff are experts in this field and are happy to help you understand the process. The most important step is to call our office so the process of verification and knowledge of the patient’s unique coverage can be used to determine cost. The process should include:

  • Verification of coverage
  • Eligibility (not every insurance company covers this procedure)
  • The amount of coverage provided by the insurance company for this procedure
  • The above mentioned points are referring to patients who have health coverage. The eligibility and coverage/amount covered will be determined by our office staff.
  • For those without health coverage, please refer to the no health coverage section below.
  • Quotes will not be given online. Everyone must discuss his/her clinical condition with the surgeon first.

A clinical evaluation needs to be made before a price can be discussed. After a patient is deemed eligible for this procedure, then the financial steps above can be started.

Pricing

Pricing varies depending on the type of procedure, and the specific type of coverage from your health insurance provider. Our staff are uniquely trained and experienced in working with insurance companies. They will work closely with you to address any questions or concerns you have.

The procedure is often more affordable than most people think! With the new health care regulations that are being implemented in the U.S., it is extremely important for you to discuss insurance coverage issues with our office staff. Please feel free to call us at (310) 557-3037.

Dealing with the insurance companies

The patients involvement in negotiations with the insurance companies is of utmost importance. Why? Because the patient or their family are the actual customers that can push the insurance company to justify the treatment. As a physician, we are not in the position to discuss any details in regards to eligibility, unless authorization is given to us by the patient to negotiate on their behalf.

Again, this requires active and willing participation by the patient (telephone calls, letters, etc).

No Health Coverage – International

For those patients who have no health coverage or are from out of the country, we can work with you on payment options. It is highly recommended that you contact us. We can discuss the monetary questions you have, and your medical background can be obtained. This will be valuable when discussing your case with Dr. Reisfeld.

Medical insurance is a very unique thing. Blue Shield/Cross in one state via one company may be completely different for someone in another state for another company. There is so much that goes into an insurance policy. Knowledge of these details in many cases is not known by the insurer/patient, which makes it very important to discuss those issues with our expert staff.

My son age 13 has had sweaty palms for as long as I can remember. He is very self conscience as he has ruined video game controllers, homework assignments (smearing), art assignments and more!! Is he too young for surgery?

Hi Lynisa. It is a large topic to discuss and the frame work of this comments section make it difficult to elaborate on the issue in few sentences. If you live in the US please call us at 310-557-3037 so I can ask the right questions and see if your son is mature enough to be a candidate for the ETS surgery which is the best solution so far for patients who suffer from severe excessive hand and feet sweating. Does the level of sweating comes down to a dripping level? Did he try any conservative methods? There is a lot to discuss so you are more than welcome to call. Thanks

When you say that you have a severe case of hyperhidrosis do you mean that the level of sweating can come to a dripping level?

If it is so and you tried some conservative measures such as lotions or pills given to you by a doctor than a consideration should be given to the surgical option (ETS).

I`m not familiar with any surgeon in your area. I could talk with you if you can call us at 310-557-3037. Thanks

Hello, I am a 36 years old man and got both issues: sweaty hands and feet, although what I hate the most are my sweaty feet.
I’ve got HAP HMO insurance. How do I know whether the insurance will cover the surgery for my sweaty feet?
    Help me please!

In order to evaluate if you are a good candidate for ETS or ELS you should talk with the surgeon about your clinical findings of your excessive hand and feet sweating.
You can reach the surgeon at 310 557 3037. Thanks

Hi, I an a 62 year old female who has been dealing with excessive facial sweating. It can happen at anytime but always after a shower, or if im sitting in a restaurant or walking in a store. It’s so embarrassing because my hair gets soaking wet and it drips onto my chest. It also goes around the nape of my neck. I called my insurance company and they would cover botox if the right codes are used.I live in MD.Could you suggest any dr closer? Thank you for your time in this matter.

Thanks for the question. The issue of severe dripping scalp/facial sweating in the elderly female population is a kind of hyperhidrosis presentation that cannot and should not be treated with any surgical options. In the female population we believe that it is a hormonal imbalance which especially develops into this presentation. The exact imbalance is not known and there are numerous types of treatments medically based or over the counter alternatives that so far have not shown any good results. In your particular situation a good internist or a gynecologist who specializes in the supplemental treatment modalities will be the best option for you to go. Please also visit this page.

I sweat just like that. It has become so terribly embarrassing it consumes my life. When you said that about getting out of the shower I knew it was the same thing. Know of any forums? Ill be seeking treatment for this as soon as I can. This is the first mention I’ve found on this after many years living like this. My doctors are all stumped.

    Hi ,
Why is it that some surgeons dont recommend ELS for plantar hyperhydrosis?

    reply
    • Center For Hyperhidrosis  May 22, 2017

Hi Sarah. I guess that the answer you get from those surgeons that I believe do not have the knowledge of how to perform the ELS or are not familiar with the latest information with regard to excessive severe plantar hyperhidrosis.

For more information you can call us at 310 557 3037. Thanks

I had ETS surgery in 2009 where clips were placed on my nerves but the nerve was not burnt off. ETS gave me 7 years of a happy life, it did not improve my feet sweat but it made my palms significantly less sweaty. Now my hand sweat is starting to come back and I am starting to feel miserable again. I live in Texas and I have not been able to find anyone who does ETS. I have had hyperhydrosis since I was born and it runs in my family. I dont know if I need surgery again to burn the nerve, I also did not know ELS existed. I would like to know if the clips need to be removed and the nerve be burnt/

Hi Sandra. Recurrence after ETS can happen in about 1% of the cases. You can have a redo operation which will correct the situation. The ELS operation can not be done at the same time as the re do ETS. For more information you can call us at 310-557-3037.

Thank you for the question Larry. Please refer to our page on the elderly and excessive sweating. There is no need to have a surgeon in Texas to consult with because it will be better to consult with a good internist and a doctor who specializes in geriatric medicine.
